Carnauba wax is a natural product
obtained from the leaves of the palm tree named as CARNAUBA
(Copernica Cerifera) which grows in Brazil.
To protect itself from the severe drought that affects
the northeast part of Brazil, the Carnauba palms produces
this wax that coats the leaves.
From September to March, leaves of Carnauba palm are harvested
to start the processing: dried leaves are beaten in order
to make the wax loosen up.
Once removed, the wax undergoes a refining process which
consists of filtering, distillation, centrifugation and
bleaching. Wax colour (from pale yellow to a greenish
brown) depende on the age of leaves.
