Gum olibanum (Incense) is a slightly
profumed gummy resin produced by different species of
Boswellia (Carteri, Frererana, Papyrifera mainly), which
grow in Somalia, Ethiopia, Arabia and India.
Gum olibanum is exedud as "tears" as the result
of the incisions in the branches of the plants.
On contact with air, this resin solidifies.
First secretion is not used, second is considered just
medium quality, and only third one produces the precious
incense.
